[A FEEL FOR THE CULTURE]: TEXTURE, the Hip Hop Journal
[MY "MARC JACOBS BY MARC JACOBS" MOMENT]
By Jaylin Paschal
For my twentieth birthday, I really wanted to do something special. [TEXTURE] is that something special.
I've always wanted to make a magazine (or in this case, a "zine") with complete creative control. And I've always wanted to move from this digital space to a real publication; one you can touch and hold and feel. Every piece in this zine was written by me, each page laid out by me. It's my official, tangible "cultural contribution."
[A FEEL FOR THE CULTURE]
Volume I is all about truly getting a feel for the culture; lying a foundation for Hip Hop's role in society, pop culture and the global economy.
Hip Hop is all about debating. I don't expect everyone to agree with every statement or article in this zine. My opinion isn't law. This is a culmination of my ideas, and that's all. I love disagreeing and debating, but please don't call for my head.
Let me know what you think! I'd love your feedback and thoughts on [TEXTURE].
